Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information is collected when you read Neon Ash at neon-ash.com (the “site”), who collects it, and the choices you have. Neon Ash is a free web serial. You can read every page without creating an account, and the site has no sign-up or comment forms.

What we collect directly

We do not ask you for personal information to read the site, and we do not sell personal information. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply.

If you sign up for episode alerts, we store your email address, the page you signed up from, the time, and a one-way hash of your IP address (for abuse prevention) in our Cloudflare database. We use it only to tell you about new Neon Ash episodes, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time by emailing [email protected].

Advertising: Google AdSense

The site loads Google AdSense code so that it can show advertising. Ads may be served by Google and other third-party vendors. In plain terms:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices (or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe).
• Where the law requires it, Google may show you a consent message before personalized ads are used.

Some banners on the site are our own “house” ads for Neon Ash. They are plain images and links that we host ourselves, and they do not track you.

Hosting, security, and analytics: Cloudflare

The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested, and the referring page. It uses this data to deliver pages, protect the site from abuse and bots, and give us aggregate traffic statistics, such as page views, visitor counts, countries, and referrers. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies (for example, __cf_bm) for bot protection. We use these statistics only in aggregate. We do not run a separate analytics tracking script, and we do not build profiles of individual readers. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and Cloudflare’s cookie list.

Fonts

The site’s typefaces load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). To deliver them, your browser sends Google a request that includes your IP address and user agent. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.

Outbound links

The site links to other services, including X (@NeonAshSerial), TeePublic (our merch store), and Royal Road. When you follow one of those links, you leave neon-ash.com, and that service’s own privacy policy applies. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their practices.

Children

Neon Ash is noir fiction written for adult and older-teen readers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If our practices change, we will update this page and its effective date.
